The sound in a home theater is important for a cinematic experience. Some people prefer having better and clear sound than a bigger screen but this is a matter of preference. Speakers vary from one to another in terms of price and sound quality. Quality speakers are however not cheap and before choosing a speaker you need to look for certain qualities that will enhance your listening experience.
Bass Extension
Bass quality is more important than bass quantity. Speakers with good bass are more preferred and are very good for listening to music. Listeners who prefer classical music, pop and jazz should use bass speakers that don't produce more than 50Hz and that bass comes from smaller speakers. Mini monitors can produce more bass than tower speakers.
Bass reproduction is however expensive. The need to lower the frequency at which bass is produced makes the reproduction process more expensive. The bigger the room, the deeper the bass extension needed. Adding subwoofers will greatly improve the bass quality.
Set Up
Position speakers correctly around your living room will serve to increase sound quality. You should have front speakers to go on the side of your television as the sound will pan from the left to the right speaker matching the video on the screen. The front screens are good for listening to music and handle the sound effects. Tower speakers are the best front speakers and give off the best sound coupled with bass. Center speakers are mainly for delivering sound and dialogue on the screen. They should be placed above or below the screen. Rear speakers are placed behind your seats and produce surround sound.
Dynamic Linearity
This is the loudness or softness of sound. Sound changes from second to second whether it's music you're listening to or a movie you're watching. These changes are either noticeable for the keen or subtle. Dynamic linearity means these changes will not be exaggerated as the sound is passed from the speakers. Dynamic linearity is getting the sound right.
