Use Your 4K TV as Computer Monitor

These days, TVs are practically really awesome computer monitors. If you're in the market for an HD or 4k monitor, perhaps you should consider looking at 4K televisions too.

Multi-Purpose 4K TVs

TVs and monitors are used for different purposes, but there is absolutely no reason that you couldn't use your TV as your PC monitor as well. There are a lot of pros in doing so including getting more pixel bang for your buck, making it easier to see small details, as well as allowing you to get display tones brighter and darker than the average computer monitor.

With 4K TVs, you will get speakers built in and, as you may already know, they can pull double duty. Since many of us are always "connected," having your 4K television serve as both TV and computer will be much more efficient than having to pull out your laptop or walking to another room to use the computer. With the TV/computer combo, you'll be able to switch back and forth with a click of a few buttons.

Already Have One?

If you already own a 4K TV, then you might want to ask yourself why you would spend more on another computer monitor - when you have a PC monitor at your fingertips! Just make sure your PC is easily accessible from your TV, you should be able to hook it up with no problem.

4K TV as Computer Monitor Considerations

Sit Farther from you 4K TV

Maybe you think a 4K television is too large to use as a pc monitor. That is definitely a valid concern. And while TVs can be immersive, especially if used up close, you can overcome that concern by simply sitting a little farther from the TV than you would from your typical computer monitor.

4K TV Connections

Connecting televisions and computer monitors are relatively the same. You'll mostly likely need an HDMI cable or adapter and a few other common cables for DisplayPort (and it's "mini" version) and maybe even a USB-C.

There will be a few other items that will need to be configured or disabled, like the "dynamic contrast," but your 4K TV will everything you need in its manufacturer's manual and instructions booklet.

Once you make the connections, your 4K TV/computer monitor combo will be a space saver and a beautiful smart upgrade!
