The speaker grille is often an important element of the speaker. This hard or soft cover usually protects the driver, so it interacts with the sound quality. Many people wonder if they need a speaker grille or not. There's not really a right or wrong answer, it's more about preference. That said, some manufacturers also recommend taking the grilles off to achieve the best sound. Other manufacturers take the grilles into account when designing for sound quality.
Sound affects some people much differently than others. Speakers are also different. Take the speaker grille off the speakers and see how it sounds to you. If you notice a big difference, you may want to leave the grilles off. Decide what you like when you're listening to music or watching a movie.
