I have learned over the past 20 years dont buy any brand of dishwasher other than BOSCH! This one was no different. Love this dishwasher. Easy to hook up, runs great. Dishes come out clean and streak free. Highly recommend!

I purposefully purchased this model because of hw quiet it is while running through the cycles. It is perfect for my open floor plan! Also love the 3rd rack for utensils. Wasn't sure I'd like this feature, but I do!

The machine cleans well but not always perfectly. Sometimes the soap gets caught and doesn't completely dissolve in a cycle leaving the dishes less than clean. I did expect superior clean everytime I used the machine especially in comparison to the cheap machine it replaced, but that isn't consistently the case. Usually my dishes come out clean as long as there wasn't hardened food on them to begin with and I use a higher quality soap. The eco soaps also don't work as well which is a bit disappointing.

I've been very happy with this dishwasher. It runs quietly and my favorite feature is that the door automatically pops open when the cycle is finished. It's so convenient and helps everything dry better. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase!

I'm sorry to say that I'm rather - surprisingly - disappointed in this new dishwasher. It's very quiet and that I'm very grateful for but it smells when it's open - even with a clean filter, my white bowls have marks that have to be scrubbed off, the lid doesn't pop open any more, I would rather have a larger silverware holder than the little shelf on top, my bowls don't fit in it easily. I thought Bosch would be better than this.

As promised, it's quiet and efficient. Our dishes have been clean--we do a quick rinse before putting them in also though. The door pops open and if we wait overnight it's all dry with the exception of containers where water pooled. It fits a good number of dishes and the top third rack is spacious enough for more than silverware.

We have been using dishwasher for a few days and love the job it does on the dishes and the quietness. Figuring out how to run it was confusing and not very straight forward, even after downloading the owners manual, which of course, did not come with the dishwasher. I will have to use it as a reference manual for the next few weeks I'm sure as all the starting, stopping and changing the cycle options are multi-step, sequential, button pushing series. Oh and no physical buttons either. I'm sure I will learn this, but currently am yearning for the days when appliances were straight forward and did not require a technology degree simply to start them running. Also I'm not planning on ever downloading the app and running the machine from my phone. As for getting the dishes clean, it does great and I especially like the flatware rack on the top. I'm looking forward to the reliability of my former Bosch dishwasher and hope this one lasts as long if not longer.

We purchased this Bosch 500 Series to replace a well loved Bosch 800 Series that had given us about 14 years of worry free service in a very hard water environment.
Our love/hate relationship started upon installation when I found I had to go to the hardware store to purchase an elbow to connect the water line. Why it wasn't includes boggles my mind. After it was installed I went to start it and nothing we tried on the control panel would get the bugger going. As a last ditch effort I loaded the Bosch app on my phone, turned on remote start and from that point on everything worked. Very odd.
The dishwasher does an excellent job cleaning our dishes.
However a few things really bother me. First the silverware basket was half the size of the one from my old 800 Series, so we kept the old basket from that. Silverware on the top drawer? Ridiculous.
The absolute worst thing about the 500 Series is the middle drawer. There's very few tines to seperate items, sorta free form city. We use a lot of long stemmed wine glasses and if we use the fold down stem holders it pretty much takes up two rows, the rightmost under the wine glasses is rendered almost useless (see photo).
We love how quiet it is, how well it cleans our dishware, but absolutely hate the middle drawer!

Have now had the SHP65DM5N dishwasher for several months. Does a great job washing the dishes, but the racks are a mixed bag. Really like the top rack ability to hold utensils, a clever design and a real space saver. However, the top rack is difficult to slide out and back in, and the rollers come off the tracks very easily unless you pull it out and push it in exactly centered. The middle rack ability to be adjusted up or down on either or both sides makes it much easier to handle larger items on the middle or bottom racks. The middle rack layout is OK, but just takes some getting used to, as is always the case with a new dishwasher. And the center rack can also be difficult to move, and needs to be pushed in centered and firmly for the wash arm plumbing to seat properly. The bottom rack layout, though, is a disaster, one of those "what were they thinking" moments. While not having a heating element means you can put plastic items anywhere, including the bottom rack, the great distance between some of the ribs in certain areas and the haphazard layout and lack of splines to hold items in some areas makes placing anything but larger pots and pans extremely difficult. The "fold-down" extra splines are very closely spaced (millimeters) with existing ones (and they are only in one area), making them virtually usless. The zone wash in the left rear portion of the bottom of the dishwasher makes it convenient to get larger pots or pans clean, but only if you can fit them over the ackward spline arrangement (this is where large gaps between ribs would be OK, but they are not in that area). The pop-open door at the end of the cycles that is unique on this model almost makes up for the absence of heated drying that is a fact of life in so many modern dishwashers. No matter what you do, though, the dishes will NOT be dry, even with the door open (and we live in an area where the humidity can be single digits in the winter). We do NOT use a rinse agent, as putting more chemicals all over clean dishes is not some thing we want to do just to make the dishes "look better" and dry with a chemical coating. If you do the dishes overnight, at least with the door open they will be dryer than other models. Liquid detergent works fine, but powdered detergent can be complicated and you must not put any more than indicated in the cup or you will end up with soap crystals all over your dishes and the inside of the dish washer. The fact that you really cannot control much of the dishwasher without an app is just the future of all appliances, and we all better get used to it (it will get worse). We are a Mac/Apple-based family, and initially setting up the dishwasher was hit or miss, but eventually after a few tries the app and dishwasher came to an understanding. Now when using the app, initially it will connect and disconnect a few times, but then will work normally. The key during setup is to figure out what combination of modes make up your most-used setting, and then save it as your favorite. Once programmed as such, you can use the Favorite button on the door without the app if your WiFi goes down. It really is a great dishwasher so far, once you get used to the quirky racks and the "convenience" of being virtually forced to use the app.

The dishes get acceptably clean. I honestly don't much care for the layout of the racks. The bottom rack has slots running two different ways, which I personally find to be restricting. The silverware basket could be a little bigger. The third rack is a smidge too shallow. I would like to be able to put small Tupperware and such up there, but they don't fit. Lastly, the app is too "busy." I have the machine set for a basic wash and can't really figure out how to get it to do anything else. I do like that the machine pops open at the end of the cycle.

I've very happy with this dishwasher. It actually dries the dishes, and I've never had a problem with any of the dishes being dirty. I didn't think I'd like the top rack, but actually love it for big spoons, spatulas, tongs, knives. The only negative I can think of is the bottom rack tines could be a little more user friendly, but that's just nit picking. Overall, I'm very happy with this dishwasher.

I don't know why we're encouraged to review an appliance we've only had for one day, but here goes. The water hookup in the back means you can't test it for leaking until you fully installed it, which is not ideal. The loading is confusing unless you've had a Bosch before, the rack times all seem too close together to me, I'm just used to my old dishwasher. There is no interior light which is surprising and such an expensive appliance. That's on me, I didn't think to look for that feature until I realized it didn't have one. We've only run it once so far, and it was quiet, so that's a positive. I do not like that there are features. You can only run from an app, this appliance is right in front of me, why do I have to go get my phone? The real test is will it last 10 years without breaking, I would be happy to come back and give it 5 stars at that time.

We started to have issues with our dishwasher so we did a lot of research to try and find a reliable replacement and all of our research recommended a Bosch. We purchased a 500 series based on the features we were looking for and we have had it for about 3 months and it works great! All the features are as advertised.

Had a Bosch dishwasher which ended up with an error code no one could figure out after 12 years of use. They attempted multiple repairs which led us to purchase the 500 series. Very happy so far and would always recommend a Bosch dishwashers. Extremely reliable and well built. Ours lasted all those years with no one single issue or required repair. We chose the 500 since all the extra bells and whistles meant nothing and not worth the extra price. Also we did not connect to the Bosch App and use it as we did the prior Bosch we had. Quiet and cleans exceptionally well.

On the whole, this gets the job done and dishes are clean. Drying is average and much worse than my old dishwasher was on a one hour wash.
Beyond that, there are a few things that are very frustrating that I feel compelled to call out. And it's worth noting that this review is being written after having owned the dishwasher for about three months, plenty of time to adjust to the differences from my old dishwasher.
The first major point of frustration is the overall positioning of the tines in each of the racks and even the spacing of bars in certain positions in the bottom rack in particular. It seems like a small thing but the incredibly large gaps in the bottom rack mean that many of the most natural positions for bowls make them sit too low below the rack when tilted on their side to the point where it seems the spray arm might actually hit it. But even if it didn't, the position of bowls on their side is slightly tipped back which can result in water collecting in the bowl. So I am forced to use more space and put the bowl completly upside down. As for the tines, after three months of using this, I find myself constantly moving things around post-load because I don't have a clear sense of my "go to" spots for many of my most commonly used dishes. Obviously everyone's dishes are different but I've never had this experience with other dishwashers I've used for this long.
The second major frustration is the interface buttons. They are not responsive (there's a second delay after touching them and every time I have a brief moment of thinking, "Did I tap it right?", often hitting the button again only to realize I've undone my first touch). Not only that, but many of the labels are unclear. The reason for this seems largely because the dishwasher is "smart" - and is nudging you to use the phone app for many common functions. For example, "Want to run the dishwasher on a delay? Use the app!" The trouble is, this is so much more annoying (dare I say "dumber") than simply tapping a delay button on the panel. When my hands are wet from washing dishes, I don't want to have to look for my phone, open an app, select an appliance, and set a time. Does doing so give me the ability to be more precise with my delayed start time? Sure. Does that make it better than a quick button tap allowing me to set a 2/4/6 hour delay? Absolutely not. It's super annoying. This is just one example of what I don't like about the buttons (or lack thereof) and the app but it's representative of the overall experience.
The only thing I like about this dishwasher is that the middle rack (there is a thin top rack for silverware) has three height adjustments. This makes it flexible for putting taller items - e.g. a tall stemmed wine glass - in the top shelf if you want. I do like that.
I'm sad to say it but I would never purchase this dishwasher again and would want an in-person inspection first before purchasing any other Bosch diswasher.

I had a Bosh dishwasher that lasted 14 years. I was so sorry when one day, it just wouldn't turn on.
I knew I would get another Bosch dishwasher. I now have a 500 Series, which I had before and it's just as wonderful as it's predecessor. It's quiet, I don't hear a thing when it's running. The dishes are always sparkling clean, and I will always own a Bosch dishwasher.
I've had 3 other brands of dishwashers that could not hold a candle to Bosch. I hope they continue to make these excellant machines because I am not fond of hand washing dishes!

It's a new dishwasher, so can't say anything about how well it works, but the app was a pain to set up. It's terrible design to force us to use the app to access key functions and the app itself was difficult to pair and hard to use. Particularly upset that I can't just hit a button to delay the start which is a big deal in my house. Also, the Alexa integration is pathetic. As far as I can tell it only allows Alexa to tell you when a load is complete. I'd like to be able to say "Alexa, start dishwasher using eco.mode at 12:30 am". Seems pretty obvious so not sure why you don't support it.

My old Bosch lasted 15+ years. Loved it. This dishwasher seems fine and I have high hopes it will go a long time. It washes dishes. It seems well built. I like the stainless interior, and it actually is more spacious than the old one. The silverware basket is too small, so I reused our old one. Otherwise it works fine.
BUT the app almost made me return it. I always run it over night on delay, which you apparently can't do from the door panel anymore. Why? Its a dish washer, not the space shuttle. The app is an unnecessary complication just to wash dishes. Sometimes the dishwasher comes on at the right time, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the door opens at the end as it's supposed to, sometimes it doesn't. I'm sure somewhere in the 5 screens you have to click on I'm setting something wrong. The buttons and labels are far from intuitive. But really, who decided we needed an APP to WASH DISHES? Come on folks.

After 12 years of having to rewash items after unloading our former dishwasher, I decided to buy a Bosch. Wow! The difference is like night and day! Every single piece, including pots and casserole dishes (which I would never even think of attempting in our previous dishwasher), comes out spotlessly clean. It is truly unbelievable.
The different drying options are nice, too, and plastic bowls/contsiners come out dry and ready to put away.
To select different options can be a challenge as it is more high tech than just pushing buttons on a panel. As a non techie this was the only drawback. But Bosch offers terrific resources on their site for navigating through the steps and once you learn them it's simple.
All in all, I cannot praise this dishwasher enough. I only wish I had purchased one years ago!

We generally try to purchase few new things for our household as we want to be conscious consumers, yet when it was time to buy a dishwasher for the house (which we hadn't had for over four years) we wanted to make sure that the one we brought into our home was quality and relatively environmentally friendly.

Bought my home, that had a 2013 Bosch dishwasher already, it lasted a year after we moved in.
So I purchased this new Bosch 500 series and I am blown away with how quite this unit is, as well as how clean it has improved the dishes, with the kids doing dishes daily, the dishes are much cleaner!
The app is super helpful because I know if the kids are doing their chores while I am away. Would recommend this dishwasher to everyone.

I have been eyeing a Bosch for some time and once my previous dishwasher bit the dust I knew what its replacement would be.
